The first is that it doesn't work. You can whine about the government or your friends or your job or your family, but nothing will happen except that you'll waste time.

Worse... far worse... is that whining is a reverse placebo. When you get good at whining, you start noticing evidence that makes your whining more true. So you amplify that and immerse yourself in it, thus creating more evidence, more stuff worth complaining about.

If you spent the same time prattling on about how optimistic you are, you'd have to work hard to make that true...

There are two recessions going on.

One is gradually ending. This is the cyclical recession, we have them all the time, they come and they go. Not fun, but not permanent.

The other one, I fear, is here forever. This is the recession of the industrial age, the receding wave of bounty that workers and businesses got as a result of rising productivity but imperfect market communication.

In short: if you're local, we need to buy from you. If you work in town, we need to hire you. If you can do a craft, we can't replace you with a machine.

No longer.

The lowest price for any good worth pricing is now available to anyone, anywhere. Which makes the market for boring stuff a lot more perfect than it used to be.

Since the 'factory' work we did is now being mechanized, outsourced or eliminated, it's hard to pay extra for it. And since buyers have so many choices (and much more perfect information about pricing and availability) it's hard to charge extra.

Thus, middle class jobs that existed because companies had no choice are now gone.

Protectionism isn't going to fix this problem. Neither is stimulus of old factories or yelling in frustration and anger. No, the only useful response is to view this as an opportunity. To poorly paraphrase Clay Shirky, every revolution destroys the last thing before it turns a profit on a new thing.

The networked revolution is creating huge profits, significant opportunities and a lot of change. What it's not doing is providing millions of brain-dead, corner office, follow-the-manual middle class jobs. And it's not going to.

Fast, smart and flexible are embraced by the network. Linchpin behavior. People and companies we can't live without (because if I can live without you, I'm sure going to try if the alternative is to save money).

The sad irony is that everything we do to prop up the last economy (more obedience, more compliance, cheaper yet average) gets in the way of profiting from this one.

Recent data by iPhone developer Muh Hon Cheng provides evidence that SingTel’s network is groaning at the seams.
The chart below gives a breakdown of users who updated the app SG Buses in the 10 days before September 14. According to this chart, 54,170 SingTel users upgraded their copy of SG Buses to the latest version. In comparison, 32,090 StarHub users upgraded while the corresponding number for M1 users was 25,090.

This suggests that SingTel has 1.7 times as many iPhone users as StarHub and a staggering 2.2 times as many users as M1.
The chart for people who upgraded SG NextBus shows a similar pattern. A total of 52,720 SingTel users upgraded, compared to 36,440 StarHub users and 32,710 M1 users. Based on SG NextBus, SingTel has more than 1.4 times as many iPhone users as StarHub and 1.6 times as many users as M1.

These numbers are for two extremely popular local iPhone apps, and it should be representative of the local iPhone population.
Looking at the data, it show that while the precise percentage differs but the trend is clear: SingTel has many more users than its competitors.
On one hand, this no doubt a good thing for SingTel, which gets to enjoy the steady stream of revenue from iPhone users on its network.
Unfortunately, iPhone users are notorious data hogs and the sheer number of users must put SingTel’s network under a tremendous strain. I’m no telecoms engineer but I’m guessing that an overloaded network will cause a poorer network experience. As someone who has been with SingTel since it started selling the iPhone two years ago, I can say that the network has deteriorated over time. I get many more dropped calls now and functionality has been affected as well. You used to be able to tether your iPhone and conduct a phone conversation at the same time. Not any more.
These numbers also suggest that switching to M1 might be the way to go simply because there are fewer iPhone users on the M1 network now compared to SingTel and even StarHub. That means less competition for capacity and hopefully a better network experience. (This is, of course, assumes that all three carriers have a roughly equivalent network to begin with.)
The Singapore government is selling off more wireless spectrum and all three local carriers are said to be interested in bidding for it. If SingTel wants to hang on to its iPhone customers, it needs to upgrade its capacity or it will start to see a migration of iPhone users towards networks that actually deliver.

Engadget has reported that the jailbreak temporarily bricked its phone. In addition, iPads running iOS 3.2.1 should stay away from this jailbreak because there are issues. Also note that not all existing jailbroken apps will work with this jailbreak.

Polytechnic student Dominic Soh is already at Hall F of Marina Bay Sands, waiting for SingTel's iPhone 4 launch at midnight.
The 16-year-old arrived at the venue at 6am this morning, some 18 hours before the launch. Finding no one there, he went for breakfast with his parents and returned at 8am. He is now lurking at the venue, taking photos and tweeting about his experience.
In a phone interview with iMerlion, Dominic said he wanted to get a headstart because he had little confidence in SingTel. "Seriously, I got here early for fear that SingTel will cock-up again like they did with the iPhone 3GS launch and allow people without appointments to queue up as well." He is planning to get the 32GB version, using money he saved up.
The games programmer and iPhone 3G owner is skipping class at Nanyang Polytechnic to be at MBS this early. However, as he is studying Digital Entertainment Technology, he can probably justify this experience as being (very) slightly relevant. And being the good Singaporean student, he said he made sure to check that he would not be skipping any important lessons today.
We highly recommend you follow him. His tweets and photos are priceless.

When I started Internet Marketing I had very little money available to spend so I had to build and promote each site from scratch. It was cheap and It was effective. However I do often wonder what would have happened if I’d been able to take some shortcuts.

On the positive side I probably would have started making money sooner. I could have then leveraged that income and increased it exponentially.

On the negative side I probably would have ended up taking a totally different path and I wouldn’t have had such a good grasp on the basics.

That last point is the problem with taking short cuts , you don’t learn and master all the finer points of site creations and promotion.

Having said that If you need to kickstart things how should you go about it.

The first thing people will tell you to do is try to find some sites for sale. Flippa is a the option that most people recommend but some sites do tend to be a little expensive there and with most sites with lots of members there will be a few sharks there looking to rip you off.

The big scam at the moment is to create a product sell it as a WSO on the warrior forum then show those sales as income, there is technically nothing wrong with this but it does stink of sharp practice as it’s doubtful you’d be able replicate this income on clickbank or paydotcom.com.

There are several other major problems with flippa, One listing today had the title “Automated Amazon earning $5403 per month Polarized aviator sunglasses”

To read that you’d think it was earning $5403 a month, it’s not in fact it’s earning $0 the $5403 is the sellers estimate of how much it will earn in 3 months. Why Flippa allows crap like this is beyond me! You couldn’t use misleading adverts like this in any other form of media so why allow it.

Do you due dilligence, get as much information as possible and if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

I usually use a site called flipfilter.com when i am looking for sites as it allows me to search a number of different market places.

If you are just starting out I would recommend finding someone who will be happy to create sites for you. We have several people in the WordPress Goldmine Forum who build and create sites for people. Other members regularly sell off some of their sites within the forum.

For example one of out members owns this site http://websitesforbuying.com there you’ll find several sites for sale.

One final thing you can do is to sign up with a Site Broker, these guys regularly sell sites on behalf of others in return for a commission. The prices will be slightly higher but if you use the right type of broker you’ll be assured of getting good quality sites as brokers protect their reputation by selling good quality genuine sites. One of the brokers I use is http://www.flipwebsites.com/

When you come to sell any of your sites it’s also useful to use a broker to sell your sites.

To sum up, you can get a head start by buying existing sites and promoting them, you will probably not gain as much as an insight into how Internet marketing works but you will probably be earning quicker. Finally be careful, only buy off trusted sources, paying a bit extra for a genuine site is worth it.

Signing up for a multi-SIM plan is one way to use the same data package on your iPad and your upcoming iPhone 4. This saves you from having to get a separate data package for your iPad.
Obviously, the carriers do not recommend cutting your SIM card. Note that if you don't cut it properly, it won't work and you'll have to buy a replacement SIM card.

THE VIRTUES OF PREGNANCY (IN ISLAM)
· When a woman is pregnant with a child, all the angels will make Istighfar (repentance) on her behalf. Allah SWT will, for each day of her pregnancy, write for her 1000 good deeds and erase from her 1000 bad deeds.
· When a pregnant woman starts to feel the pain from contractions, Allah SWT will write in her records as someone who is doing jihad (spiritual or physical struggle) in His path.
· When a woman becomes pregnant by her husband and he is pleased with her, she obtains the reward of a person engaging in fasting for Allah SWT and a person spending the night in ibaadah (worship).
· A woman from the time of pregnancy until childbirth and weaning the baby, is like the Mujahid (someone fighting in the path of Allah, swa) who is stationed on the frontiers of the Islamic land. If she dies during this period, she dies the death of a shahid (martyr).
· Two raka’at salaat performed by a pregnant woman is better than 80 raka’at salaat performed by a non-pregnant woman.
· A woman who is pregnant gets the reward of fasting during the day and of doing ibaadah (worship) during the nights.
· A woman who gives birth gets the reward of 70 years of salaat (prayer) and fasting. For each vein that feels pain, Allah SWT gives her the reward of one accepted hajj (Pilgrimage to Makkah).
· If the woman dies within 40 days of giving birth, she will die as a shahid (matyr).
(Hadith)…….”A woman that dies in her virginity or during her pregnancy or at the time of birth or thereafter (in nifaas) will attain the rank of a martyr”
Nabi(salalaallahu alayhi wassallam) is reported to have also said “…….When her labour pains commence, the inhabitants of the earth and the sky are unaware of the stores of comfort that are prepared for her. When she delivers and breast feeds her child, then she will be granted a reword for every gulp of milk, if she had to remain awake during the night for the sake of the child, she will receive the reword of emancipating seventy slaves in the path of Allah Ta’ala. O Salaamat! Do you know who these women are? They are pious, upright, with a delicate nature yet obedient to their husbands and not ungrateful to them
